Large Vintage 1920s Cast Iron & Wood Drafting Table

P1020126

Offering a stunning antique maple and cast iron drafting table made by Hamilton Manufacturing Co. The cast iron knobs, legs and hardware are fantastic. The base is made of black painted maple and the extra large table surface is made of pine with oak trim on both ends. There’s a scarce maple foot rest attached to the cast iron legs, which is removable. Excellent patina and desirable wear to the wood surfaces, which show its age and character. Everything is completely functional and very sturdy. The drafting table has a tilt function, and is also height adjustable. It has been carefully cleaned and waxed, while leaving all its original character and wear. The table surface has wear at four corners of the surface due to years of drafting with a compass point, which has left shallow pin point indentations, but a glass can easily rest on the concentrated spots. For drafting use, it would be best to use a drafting mat on the drawing surface, and its about one of the largest dimensions you can find for a drafting table.

The piece is perfectly suited as a desk, dining table, kitchen island/table, or a cocktail table in a commercial setting. Excellent versatility. The ability to adjust the height makes the table perfect for use with chairs or stools. The industrial design lends itself well to plenty of uses in various decor environments. Whether it be a compact NYC loft or a home office, this table will provide limitless options, as a show piece in whichever room you choose.

Dimensions: 60″W x 36″D x 33″H (height adjustable to approximately 42″)

Vintage Typewriters Are Hot

IMG_1804

It’s been many years since the vintage typewriter revival started, and the trend is here to stay. We frequently stock fully refurbished 1920s & 1930s models from Royal and Imperial. The Royal typewriters were manufactured in NYC, and they’re built to last many lifetimes. The Imperial typewriters were manufactured in the UK, and are incredibly pleasing to the eye, with lots of chrome, beautiful contours and also built to last many lifetimes. There are a lot of typewriters out there, but finding an early example carefully refurbished and brought back to its full glory is a rarity. All our typewriters are meticulously cleaned, polished, waxed and mechanically serviced, resulting in a reliable machine with beautiful time-warp looks, feel and typing from a bygone era. They’re a real treat to admire and type on.

The typewriter above is a Royal Model P from the early 1930s. It has tabulation, which is an unusual feature for this model. The mocha two-tone brown is outstanding. For more information on this model, please visit Hartong International on Etsy.

Vintage Telephones

P1050389

Vintage telephones add so much charm and elegance to a room or office. Western Electric made the finest telephones in the world, with all metal bases and time tested bakelite handles. Their telephone technology was above and beyond the competition. A 1930s model 202 with an E1 handset like the one above was the pinnacle of telephone design during the Deco era. There’s nothing like dialing a call on a clickity clack sounding refurbished rotary dial, as it makes every call feel important. The separate ringer box which accompanied this model had beautifully cast brass bells, making a beautiful sound, much like the sound one would hear while watching a Hollywood film of the 1930s with a telephone in the scene.

In order to keep elegant old telephones alive and working, Hartong International fully refurbishes each model with an obsessive attention to the fine details. The 1930s Western Electric Model 202 displayed above is offered for sale in our store. Like all the vintage and antique telephones we carry, they have been fully refurbished with stunning glossy paint, new or inspected NOS wiring and updated networks to work on all traditional telephone lines. Many of our telephones can be used on cable internet based telephone services with a simple adapter. The example pictured has a beautiful Italian leather base pad, which keeps your furniture free of scratches and allows the telephone to stay in place when dialing a call.

A Lovely Working 1920’s Victrola Full Size Gramophone- Fantastic Original Condition

Offered at $995.-  Was $1295.- SOLD

A 1920’s full size Mahogany Victrola VV-XIa. It’s complete with the motor working well. The motor had been taken out and cleaned, including the motor springs. It plays very well. The motor governor has a missing counter weight, which means after winding it up, the turntable just needs a light push to get it going. The springs hold a fantastic amount of energy, giving this Victrola an excellent amount of playing time. Mechanically it will play records for a very longtime to come.

The mahogany case to this Victrola has an original finish, which shines nicely. It has normal wear, dings and scratches to the finish. The original lacquer fiinsh has some cracked areas, but this is to be expected of an old finish. It shows very nicely. The Victrola has been cleaned and waxed with a fine museum wax, giving it a fantastic shine! Definitely a very solid fully functional Victrola. The bright work is excellent and the nickel plating is exceptionally well preserved.

The Victrola comes with a 1927 music catalog, some needles and a few records. A very enjoyable piece!
